Do you have a passion for creating marvelous works of art from bits and pieces of scrap? Are you elated whenever you see something you've done so painstakingly turn into an attention-grabbing piece? Your works of art have a certain edge that makes them different from everything else. Even when you are just adding the finishing touches, you can already see the finished product; a fascinating and almost technically perfect product. Given the time and materials you can also make your own wonderful works of art. But before you dive in into the world of creative combinations of shapes and colors, you should first try something that is not too hard for you, yet gives you enough satisfaction from your projects. Know the basics and guidelines and create your own sculptures! Dive into the resourceful yet artistic world of Woodworking!

So what do you need to know and have before starting your projects?

You should set up the following in this proper order, a workshop, the basic woodworking tools and machinery, basic materials, and lastly, a woodwork plan.

The workshop is where everything will be made. You have to place the workshop somewhere that will not disturb neighbors or other people as you work. The location is important because you are bound to create a tremendous amount of noise, made by the power tools or machinery that you will use, as you work. Technically your workshop is your first woodworking project. Build your workshop as spacious as possible while not taking too much of your lawn. Make a tabletop or counter at the center of the workshop for this is where everything will happen, from measuring, to planning, to cutting, the table top will be the heart of the workshop in most cases. Install a powerful light on all work surfaces to avoid casting shadows and ruining your work and also, don't forget to put windows. The windows provide ventilation; they will let out all the saw dust and harmful odors that you'll produce as you work.

Next, prepare your tools and machinery. You don't need to buy the most expensive machinery for your first beginner project. Just buy the first machinery that you'll need as specified on the project plan. Prepare these essential tools that every woodworker will need: a Clay Hammer, 6''Layout Square, 25'Retractable Tape Measure, Utility Knife, Chisels, Level, Screwdrivers, Sliding Bevel, Nail Sets and, Block Plane.
The Clay Hammer is for placing nails into places. The Layout Square produces a perfectly square line for end cuts measuring up to 45 degrees or six inches, whereas the Sliding Bevel can be adjusted to any angle. The Tape Measure need not to be explained, but pick a retractable one to keep it conveniently in your pocket and can easily be handled as you work. The Utility Knife is used for marking the stocks or wood. The Screwdrivers, for turning screws into the stock; Chisels, for different shaving and shaping purposes; Nail Sets, for sinking nail heads beneath the wood's surface; and the Block Plane, for shaving thin amounts of wood and cleaning edges, are invaluable for any woodworker. You may buy the equipments in any woodworking shops or even from discount shops, just remember that the quality and usefulness of the equipments define your finished products.

Lastly, prepare a woodworking project plan that can be purchased from the internet at affordable prices. You may also search for free project plans that are applicable for beginners. After everything has been prepared, you may now have fun making your first project!
