When You Have No More Time or Energy, Prioritise Your Resources

By: Justine Simard

Almost everyone will arrive at a point in their day, week, year or life, when they feel that they can’t do anything above what they are currently doing. They feel that they've attained their greatest output, they really are using up all their energy and time, there is no more to give, no more juice, this is as much as they can give to reaching their greatest goals. They aim to achieve success, but within the bounds of their resources and abilities. Fair enough.

There's no more energy. No more time. No more funds. No more inspiration.

And then, some event arises where they need more. There's a NEED to give more. There is no more time left, but your child is ill and you need to take time off for them. You haven't any energy, but you have an important deadline and are driven to sacrifice sleep. You have no capital, but a friend or relative really needs your assistance. So how do you handle this? You change your priorities. The time you did not have, the energy that wasn't there, and the capital that wasn’t there, was created. By you.

Every person has their very own definition of personal success, and we make decisions each day on where we put our resources, time and energy, based on the things we wish to accomplish in relation to our larger goals, our values and our determination to achieve success in various areas of our lives. Each hour, we decide on how much we can give to accomplishing those goals. We decide if we can give 10%, 100% or 110%. We choose our priorities, and allocate our resources on them.

So listed below are some key questions:

What are your priorities?
How are your resources allocated? Where do you put your time, money and energy?
Could you produce more resources?

Essentially, are your resources going to your priorities? But most significantly, are you able to produce more resources to serve your goals? I have many times felt that I was giving everything I had to realise my goals. But I found that I often could do more. I discovered that I could not only allocate resources better, but produce more of those resources! At times when I felt I had no time to get fit, I got up earlier (revelation, I know!). When I felt my online business was my absolute priority, I remembered that the main reason I have this business is to raise my 2 young children at home (and that THEY are my absolute priority). When I believed I was exhausted, I brought a new focus to my health, made some significant changes in my habits and routine, and produced more energy for myself. Often, the solution is in shifting your resources to better reflect and serve your priorities.

What do you think? Do you shift and re-allocate your resources to better serve your priorities? Could you give more to realise your goals through this process? Are you spending time, energy and money on things that simply don’t serve your online business, your individual success, your passion, your purpose? Don't forget to leave me a comment and to share this with your networks!
