The most ravishing beaches in 2010.

By: Jim Bobbson

Every year a body called the Federation for Evironmental Education grants Quality seal blue flags to the beaches identified as hygeinic, secure, and with first-class environmental awareness strategies. Tuscany has it's significant share of Blue Flag beaches, up and down its glistening coastline. A coastline where, in just a few minutes, spectacular Chianti Villascan be found.

Tuscany Best Beaches: Overview
In a nutshell, with Lucca as your first marker, the more down (south) the coast you travel in Tuscany, the more gorgeous the shores become, and, except for the most popular season, you'll find less fellow tourists too. These are obviously the beaches that require the longest time to reach from Firenze, but the differences are legendary.

Beaches for the Young
Although at the beaches of Lucca (Forte dei Marmi, Camaiore, Viareggio) you'll find all the amenities typical of any beach resort, you're gonna be disappointed if you were looking for a place that is tranquil and one-on-one. If you're a teenager and searching for a break by the sea with discoteques and tapas style bars, Viareggio is not going to dissapoint.
Crisp Conclusion: from Firenze, excellent amenities and Late night life.

Prefered Beaches for Families
By contrast, if you are a small family unit group, the beaches across at Livorno (Antignano, Quercianella, Rosignano, Cecina, Bibbona, Castagneto, San Vincenzo) are a great choice as they can be quickly got to from Florence (70/90minutes by bus) and have lodgings and services with target on family stays.
Crisp Conclusion: 70 minutes/90 minutes from Florence, family minded.

Awesome Beaches of Beauty
For the best beaches, noted here as the joining of the most ravishing countryside with the most turquoise waters, there is a shared among Florentine's that Grosetto (Follonica, Castiglione della Pescaia, Monte Argentario) always wins hand's down.
Summary: An hour and a half from Florence, fewer services, greater beauty.
