Kung Fu Panda is a movie that released out in 2008. It starred Jack Black as Po and was made by Dreamworks Animation in Glendale, California. Po is a panda who is the star of the movie. The model for this Kung Fu Panda started in 1993, although it took more than a decade to have the film underway. It was supposed to be a parody, but instead it became a martial arts film. The film is set in ancient China, and Po is a clumsy panda who desires to be a kung fu master. When he’s told by the head of the temple that he is to be the Dragon Warrior, not only is Po nervous, but so are all of the Kung Fu warriors in the area. Surprisingly enough, the Kung Fu Panda film turned outto be very successful. It grossed over $20 million on its opening day and a little over $60 million on its first weekend. This made it the number one box office film at the time. It was one of the highest grossing animated movies of 2008. One of the factors that Kung Fu Panda was so popular may be that the animated film has an excellent message; it’s a bit of a moralistic story, despite the fact that it’s filmed with amazing kung fu action. And after all, since movie is animated, how might the kung fu action not be amazing. The point of Kung Fu Panda is that you have to believe in one self, in addition to this is a very good point for kids to understand, or actually for somebody to recognise that you are good, and you can do anything you want to, if you try hard enough. Even the kid with low self-esteem will be able to feel better about him/herself after watching Po’s desires come true. In fact, this Dragon Warrior doesn’t know anything regarding kung fu, he’s kind of clumsy, it’s hard to keep his mind on one thing, and he’s chunky. He’d rather eat than do anything else. But when an old turtle named Oogway, designates Po as the newest Dragon Warrior, and every one the folks tease the panda, Po has a genuine challenge. Here’s an example of Oogway’s idea of life; he says, “The past is history, the future is a mystery, now is a gift, which is why it’s called the present”. One of the lessons of life that I especially liked in Kung Fu Panda is that when the sacred dragon scroll was opened, and this was supposed to hold all the solutions, it turned out to be blank. There was nothing in the scroll, and there was a whole moral in that. This was supposed to funnel Po and there was nothing present, so the only thing he could do was look into himself, and discover the solutions inside himself. And that was the lesson – our strengths really comes from in ourselves. However, for kids, who were the target audience, Kung Fu Panda is absolutely adorable. He’s funny, he’s quirky, he’s ungainly, and yet, he becomes a hero, he wins the battle, and part of this is because he believes in himself. The other part of it is that he had basically a good heart.
