So consider your website, what it's for, and who might be inconvenienced by it not being maintained properly. This way, you can get a general idea on what sort of website maintenance you need.

A website that is properly maintained will look fresh and new to visitors of the site. This is an important feature especially if the site has many returning visitors.

Another important item to be aware of Is the fact that the search engines like websites that have good content added regularly. The website will be viewed by the search engines as current and up to date.... Giving the sites a better chance of ranking well for existing pages.
