By: Steven Gearing

From what you have learnt you probably know that the best way to get rid of fat is through lots of exercise and a good low calorie diet, but were you aware that it’s possible to speed up the fat burning process by eating certain types of foods that burn fat? There is a range of foods that increase the amount of calories burnt while digesting them or those that help you curb your appetite without adding a lot of extra weight to your body. Overall, getting rid of fat is a difficult activity, in fact we can easily eliminate the initial under layer of flab through exercise and dieting, but it is the layer of adipose fat near the surface of your skin that is a problem. This is where your body stores its backup fat stores for times when you have little food in your belly, when you attempt to starve your self this is where any fat coming into your body will be diverted to and this is why low calorie diets just don’t work.

There are hundreds of diet variations available to you, but because we all have different bodies that react to dieting in different ways there is no one sure fire solution to losing weight fast. You have 2 choices; you can either pay for a specialized diet program or do a little research and come up with your own meal plans. Though we re different there are a certain set of rule that apply to us all and nutritionists believe they have found the secrets to losing weight fast through eating specific foods that burn fat. For example in order to shed those unsightly pounds you’ll need a diet that contains low carbohydrates or refined carbs, such as brown rice, whole wheat bread and low fat milk. You’ll also need to set yourself a lowered calorie limit and choose a number of foods that fit in with this limit to create your daily meal plan.

It might sound complicated at first, but it is actually very logical, to help you along here is a list of particular foods that burn fat to get you started:

(a) Spicy foods – If you’re a big Indian or Thai food lover and also want to lose weight then you’re in for a treat, studies have found that certain chemicals in chilli peppers boost your metabolic rate by 23%. Unfortunately this only last for between 30 minutes to 1 hour, but you could try eating a table spoon of chilli mixed in with a low calorie pasta dish, then wait 20 minutes before starting a low intensity cardio workout.

(b) Protein Rich Foods – Such as soy milk, low fat milk and fish, you probably already know that more protein equals more muscle and the more muscle that you have the more energy your body needs to sustain this mass of tissue. Digesting protein also requires twice as much energy then that needed for digesting fat or carbohydrates, so it actually helps you get rid of those unwanted pounds without having to do anything.

(c) Dairy produce – Usually people relate dairy produce to fat, but a recent study has found out that it is quite the opposite. Cheese, milk and yogurt all contain a chemical that can slow down the release of your body’s fat producing hormone. That doesn’t mean you should start eating only dairy products, instead pick low fat dairy items just to be on the safe side.

(d) More Fiber – Fiber is the bland tasteless substance found in whole wheat pasta and all bran breakfast cereal, it is included as one of the foods that burn fat because it can help dieters curb their appetite by tricking the body into believing it has just eaten a large meal. Once eaten fiber absorbs liquids in your belly and expands to twice its own size giving you that bloated full feeling.
