The only way to exploit incorrect point spreads is to be totally rational and pay no heed to any subjective information. Numbers are numbers and they never lie. Mathmatical based handicappers have established over time that they can maintain a statistical gain, and they do this by staying away from any opinions, biases or who their favorite team is. Over time, you would be prudent to put your loyalty in someone who analyzes home and away teams records in certain point spread situations. If you were to find out that in College football, that the home underdog only covers 41% of the time when getting 5 points, wouldn't that be more beneficial information than whether your handicapper thinks a star QB will tear up his opponent's cover 2 formation and cover an 11 point spread? While several handicappers are charlatans, you can make decent money with a statistically based sports handicapper.
