Anyhow back to my point. Jay-z performed his 'New York State of Mind' and I've to say it was very good. Afterward the host, Jools Holland interviewed Jay-z and as a parting shot mentioned to him, 'as the undisputed king of rap what recommendation would you give any young up and coming songwriters musicians about making it in the music business?' His reply was this: 'Do not faux it. Play what is true to you'. OK so that you're thinking, nicely that's nothing new. Heard that before. Yes me too, nonetheless( here is the place I hopefully make my point) the very subsequent act on was 'Sting' previously of the Police. Properly he sits there and with a lute player and sings this bizarre sort of Gaelic sea shanty and I am watching him and listening and thinking to myself 'that is rubbish'. Yes it ticked all of the bins for the model of music(Sting is very gifted at songwriting after all), however did I believe him? Was he credible? NO! Was he faking it? YES! And it showed. OK, I am not exactly ready to criticise Sting, however I suppose the purpose I'm attempting to get across is that Sting's 'Actual' songwriting id in the Police obtained him to the highest of his game. If he were just starting out now I doubt very a lot whether his current music would get him any recognition because it is not coming from the guts!on there. For instance this week he had about eight teams on, 1 being Steve Martin ( sure 'THE' Steve Martin who in addition to being a comic is a very completed Banjo participant, and straight after he had 'Alice In Chains'! OK, I'm not exactly able to criticise Sting, however I suppose the point I'm trying to get across is that Sting's 'Real' songwriting identification in the Police obtained him to the top of his game. If he have been just beginning out now I doubt very a lot whether or not his current music would get him any recognition as a result of it's not coming from the guts!
