The confiscatory universal default increases are no longer allowed. One factor several consumers are finding is their minimum payments are going up. Most mastercard corporations had their minimum payments held at close to two% of the balance + interest. The new laws allow for a maximum increase within the minimum payment of 100%. Thus a two% minimum cannot exceed four%. Creditors appear to be building a customary of 5% of the minimum. That allows for a minimum payment increase to 10% of the balance at anytime in the future. Regarding interest rates there is no national limit to how high rates can go. Most states regulate banks inside the state, however haven't any influence outside their state. You may have noticed many credit card companies are incorporated in Delaware or North Dakota. These states laws or lack of them permit for unlimited interest charges on credit cards.
