This aim includes a commitment to delivering the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), which incorporates planning a curriculum. Carers are licensed in ‘Early Years Care & Education’, with some employees at degree level, whilst others will be working towards qualification. Regular reviews of our provision are made, each time with a view towards quality and development. Our Child / Tweeny Unit has its own dedicated Manager, as does our Pre-School Education Unit. We feel that this enables specialised management and leadership with the developmental stages and therefore ensures that the paramount interests of the kids are foremost in our service. The kid unit for the under two’s provides a relaxed, homley environment. Babies under 8 months are cared for in a separate room tailored specifically for this age range, babies aged 8 months to 24 months are cared for in our ‘Child Rooms’. These rooms are tailored for those becoming more mobile and taking their first ideas. There is a wide range of age appropriate toys and play equipment in each specialist room. As well, there is plenty of space for floor-play/crawling. Children progress into our Tweeny unit at 24 months and stay until graduating to Pre-School at 3 years. Here the kids are introduced to slightly more structured play in line with their age and stage of development; including imaginative play and introduction of arts and crafts. The Tweeny room is additionally equipped to allow for kids potty training, carers continue to liaise with parents to follow established toileting and sleep routines. Both Tweeny and the Pre-School rooms have their own areas to allow for painting, sticking and gluing, collage and sand and water, to assist each baby’s creative development. Our Sensory Room is equipped with a variety of different textures, lights and sounds. Kids have terrific fun exploring the bubble tube, Fibre Optic Cascade, Mirror Ball, Touch & Sound panels in addition as various other items of equipment which enables sensory development. The room is suitable for children of all different ages and enormously kids with additional needs. Our Pre-School Education Unit is led under the guidance of a Licensed Early Years Teacher, supported by a team of staff under the recommended ration of 1:8. This room provides the children with the opportunity to enjoy a wider range of age appropriate toys and play equipment. Thus facilitating a diverse range of activities, this kind of as role play in the home corner to quieter activities i.e. jigsaws, or reading in our book corner. The scenario of this room is changed regularly to fit in around our planned themes. This allows children to explore new environments and experiences and to make full use of their imagination. The children are introduced to all the necessary skills required to give them educational building blocks for their future. They experience pre reading and writing skills, and have opportunity to obtain an understanding of numerical concepts. Children are guided through play and their own discovery, into a wider learning sphere, equipping them for their move on to more formal education. The children are regularly able to enjoy the surrounding surroundings, through walks, picnics, nature trails and other outdoor activities. As well we have and enclosed forest garden and three fully equipped outdoor play areas. The children are supervised at all times whether outdoors or inside.
