Life's Purpose and Internet Marketing

By: Jose Anajero

When I was starting my business four years ago, my pastor friend asked me who's my idol in entrepreneurship. My immediate answer was - Rick Warren.

Pastor Rick Warren, even though not your standard businessman, is widely acknowledged as highly entrepreneurial. Being a pastor of one of the largest Christian churches in the USA, his management expertise has been renowned. A number of people declare that if Rick Warren is in the business world, he would meet the criteria as a CEO of a Fortune 500 company. His admired book Purpose Driven Church is now a standard management book; a recommended reading for Bank of America managers. And it served as one of the most important internet business resources for me.

More or less four years ago, I resigned from my fairly relaxed job in the government to pursue my entrepreneurial dream. For the reason that my passion is to help myself become successful entrepreneur while serving others, I believed network marketing was the best business model for me.

I wanted to build a Christ-centered network marketing group but I had no idea how. None in my upline could assist. During that time, I had no idea what book to read. However my attention was directed to Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Church.

Even if Rick Warren never expected it would be used as a business management resource, there's much the world of business can benefit from it.

Nothing precedes purpose, as Rick Warren says. The starting point for every church, or any business for that matter, should be the question, "Why do we exist?"

Right from the beginning, I knew what my purpose in business was. That's why in spite of all the problems I experienced this past four years, I did not surrender. Though I'm no longer doing network marketing, my original dream of helping other marketers has never changed. With the assistance of my online marketing mentor, I'm now equipping myself to become an internet marketing consultant in the future.

Reading Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Church is like perusing a typical management or marketing book. For example, there are sections on "Defining Your Purposes", "Who is Your Target", "Knowing Whom You Can Best Reach", and "Developing Your Strategy".

When I left my occupation, I did not expect shifting from employee to entrepreneur would be extended and challenging for me. Even if the idea of quiting never occurred to me, there were heartbreaking times when I didn't know where to go. It's during those times that I would recall the story shared by Rick Warren on Chinese bamboo tree.

The Chinese bamboo tree is an astounding plant. You plant a bamboo sprout in the ground. You water and fertilize for four or five years but it lies undeveloped. But on the fifth year, things change considerably. In a six-week period it grows to be a amazing ninety feet tall!

Each one goes through a so-called learning curve. We may not be seeing any concrete results when we are just starting out in online marketing. But we should not be dispirited. If we persist, in due time and with the help of God, we will reap our prize.
