How a registry functions A list of information and data ---called the computer’s registry--- is automatically formed with an operating system loaded into the machine. The registry acts like a directory of sorts to register all the important –and often the irrelevant—information for easier admission by the operating system. Without a registry and the information are sprinkled at arbitrary in the system, the computer will take without end to go over, select, retrieve and use the necessary information.
