Is registry cleaner helpful

By: Harry Graff

How a registry functions

A list of information and data ---called the computer’s registry--- is automatically formed with an operating system loaded into the machine. The registry acts like a directory of sorts to register all the important –and often the irrelevant—information for easier admission by the operating system. Without a registry and the information are sprinkled at arbitrary in the system, the computer will take without end to go over, select, retrieve and use the necessary information.

Now it gets complicated

Using the PC allows the intermittent entry of updates to file systems, settings and other software requirements from time to time, further complicating the operating process. If you can imagine an arabesque of lines all interconnected with each other, you may see an inkling of what a convoluted registry looks like. Or if you can consider of a garden maze…

Furthermore, when updates are made to any software or system configurations, the old files are not removed. They remain where they are, and even though not used, are still accessed by the PC’s operating system each time you boot the device to use it. In other words, the operating system scans every file, determines if it is appropriate to the operation at hand, retrieves it if it is and discards it if not, and proceeds to the next file, copying the required file into the memory for use in the operation.

An update may have a lot of information, many of them unneeded because they are already out of date or replaced by later versions. But the PC will still download them if you allow it by not being selective. If your operating system is a rather old system, for example, and you update it only a long time afterwards, all the updates between your last update and the present will be loaded into your PC, regardless of whether they are outdated, superseded, amended, or or else adapted by new ones. As long as it is not there, it will be loaded.

What happens after

Ultimately a registry loaded with unnecessary information is made that the system yet reads each time. All these retard the computer’s operation and may even make it crash later if left uncorrected for some time. A workstation crash not only effectively stops the operation and thwarts what you are doing with it, but also endangers the whole system by corrupting the system itself. Too much conflict among the instructions and something is bound to give up somewhere sometime.

When a registry cleaner operates, it scans the registry from start to finish, removing the useless or irrelevant information, and defragments the information left over in the system. This compacts the system for easier and faster access by the operating system and your PC works much better. So you not only need a registry cleaner, but you should use it as often as weekly.
