How I Got Started in Cruise Ship Speaking

The year was 2005 and I was at a snail's pace killing myself.

Not literally of course, but it felt that way. I was existing in severe
hotel rooms, boisterous airports, and ordinary conference rooms. This is what
the majority of speakers regard as "successful".

Hah! It was making me insane.

I prized conveying my message in front of an audience of course. Whether presenting or performing there is still nothing more exhilarating than stepping onto a stage with a microphone in your hand and creating
a treasured mutual experience.

Nevertheless spending your life going after bookings at all times, continuously selling to meeting planners, getting stuck in airports and in traffic,
and stressing out on the way to the venue? I'd had enough of that.

Yes, I was creating a great existence, but I was doing waaaay too hard to get pleasure from it. Then I found out a professional speaking market that accurately gave
me my existence back... cruise ships!

Cruise Ships Gave Me My Life Back

In the last few years my wife and I have been able to take over 100
cruises, to exotic destinations all over the world, more often than not functioning
only 3 hours a week, and receiving sizeable money to perform it.

We have cruised for free to:
o The Caribbean
o The Mediterranean
o Every island in Hawaii
o Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora
Bora
o Alaska and the Inside
Passage
o Brazil
o Singapore
o Thailand
o England
o Ireland
o France
o Belgium
o Norway
o Denmark
o Bermuda
o Jamaica
o Belize
o Columbia
o The Bahamas
o Both coasts of Mexico
o All over Central and South
America
o Costa Rica
o The Panama Canal
o Australia and New Zealand
o Italy
o Spain
o Turkey
o Monaco
o The Greek Isles
o And many more out of the ordinary
places.

All that tour and adventure would have generally cost us hundreds
of thousands of dollars, however as a guest of the cruise lines we've done
it all for free.

Not only that, but the 3 hours of "work" I trade for this astounding

life are some of the highly fun and rewarding experiences I've
ever had in my existence. Why exert yourself very hard going after the same speaking
markets all and sundry does when cruise ships give such low?

Real Success = Freedom

I didn't see that this lifestyle was even feasible or I would have done
it years ago. My wife Suzy and I have been speaking and performingon cruise ships for years now and have taken over 100 voyages.

Before I started in this career I was living in Los Angeles being
"successful". Which in this profession means airborne everywhere,
staying in hotel rooms, and most of the time on the phone and the email with
clients, trying to book one event after the other.

Be cautious what you request for in this career. You become doing well,
and then you become exceptionally tiring, and then you start to be unable to find the quality
of your life. That circumstance never make sense to me.

Hence I made a immense change. I chose to build life a stirring journey
and tour the earth, have other people pay for it, and labor two or
three hours a week.

I'm actually only signed up for two hours a week as a guest performer,
but I wish to throw in that extra third hour as an enrichment lecturer
as I be able to earn more from speaking in that third hour than I do
from performing in the first two!

My First Booking

So what happened was, I got booked on my first cruise exactly as a
guest entertainer. I went through a representative instead of submitting
directly to the cruise line. Agents can be useful for entertainers, but
speakers should really arrange with the cruise lines directly.

That first cruise ship event was almost four years ago now and seems
like a distant memory.
