It has to be that time of year again, when everyone is out seeking gifts for their friends and family. It always seems that the go-to gift for some is a gift card or some sort of shower set (here’s a tip to guys out there who believe the shower sets are good ideas: They’re really not; odds are whoever you’re getting the shower set for by now has 20 of them). Because of the time of year, GameStop is looking to hire 15,000 seasonal staff. The jobs are all part time and merely pay minimum wage, but the touch of cash that the store is paying is better than what some individuals are receiving right now: nil. GameStophas a program like this each year. It hires this lots of seasonal personnel beginning in the fall and their time is concluded on December 24. The biggest jump will be the “game advisers” which are the people in the store who are destined to assist customers pick video games. There will be 78% more of these than there are right now. Truthfully, I have never seen a game adviser in my neighborhood GameStop. The most advice I have ever gotten on a game is “That video game is really cool.” You can actually tell how much commerce the business expects over the holiday season because the 15,000 seasonal employees means that the employee base for the business goes up by almost 50%. This also goes along with most retail stores’ holiday plans. After all, most of the business that retail establishments do is done over the holiday season.
