Is your fussy infant keeping you busy? I know just what you mean... As a Health Care provider for women, I see many new Mom’s being extraordinarily exasperated with a baby who can be really fussy. After you have attempted to comfort, fed, then changed your little one, here are some extra suggestions to help you handle a fussy infant. Ok, enough hype... here are 5 tips to help sooth your fussy baby. 1. First off, the room you are in should be as dark and quiet as you can. Turn off digital devices around you and relax with you little one. They could be hyperstimulated if there are loud, non-monotonous sounds about. 2. Temporarily put baby on their belly on your lap or held up aligned with you. A dry washcloth warmed in the microwave below her stomach may feel soothing. Bear in mind not to KEEP your child on his/her tummy for too long or unattended. You should only do this if you are in close proximity watching your baby! From time to time the pressure on your little one’s belly is relaxing... 3. Swaddling the child is also recognized to be very effective. It offers babies the sense that they are back in the womb and makes them feel more assured. 4. Repetitive motions with the infants head and neck supported, like bouncing a little or rocking back and forth, may prove to have very consoling effects. 5. Now and then a good ride in the car is just what the child needs to calm down and catch some break. (I have had patients that took turns driving for several hours as the car was the only place the child would snooze). The vehicle is a perfect place to surround your little one with repetitive noises and steady movement. I hope you enjoyed my 5 suggestions to help relax your fussy baby. It certainly can be stressful... I know this from practice... ...with just a little endurance you will have no hassle comforting the miniature baby.
