Despite theincreasing popularity of M4A (MPEG 4 Audio) format for playing audios with the introduction of AAC file compression encoding method, MP3 music file format is still not going to be out anytime soon. Yes, despite AAC, the encoding method of M4A being designed as a next generation file compression to replace the popular MP3, MP3 is still here to stay. For a number of of good reasons; primarily, there are still a lot of platforms and players out there which do not recognize and support the M4A format. It being an AAC encoded file which used to be just a native of Apple's iPod and iTune. So as of now, it may be necessary to convert some files to MP3 for compatibility sake as some players do not play and support M4A format while MP3 is universal. While MP3 audio file can be literally played on any platform on any playback program. And it is not only the universality and compatibility of MP3 which made it more palatable to audiophiles. Most music when availed in the internet are generally still in MP3 format except when you buy it on iTune store. Such, uniformity of audio files to be played can become an issue when some of your content are rendered unplayable due to it its unsupported format. So inevitably some files still needs to be converted for playability and there are free M4A to MP3 converter that can be availed for this purpose. Though eventually MP3 may be rendered obsolete by the newer compression format that will be introduced in the market (such as the AAC), it may still take a while before MP3 can be phased out. As the end users may get more sophisticated with the variety and novelty of compression methods that will be introduced in the industry, MP3 will eventually be a bygone as its quality may no longer be acceptable by the end user as it is now. But for now, it is still here to stay and maybe, longer than we will expect. And when files still needs to be converted to suit compatibility, free M4A to MP3 converter are still available to serve that purpose.
