Ever woke up one day and wanted to learn French? Because of my weird dream the night before, I woke up wanting to learn French. I was in France and no one could understand my English. I tried to order a drink at a bar, but I ended up getting into a fight! I think I called his wife a clown. Basically the whole point of that story was that now I wanted to learn French. So how difficult is it to learn a new language? Well first off, the older you are, the harder it is to learn. This is mainly related to the fact that your brain activity decreases with age. Children have the ability to learn languages very fast because their brain activity is so high. So sorry older people, but you are going to have a hard time learning to speak French. So what can you do? There are many options to take instead of a class or hiring a tutor. Problem is that most of them are crap. Good luck if you try to learn from an English to French dictionary. And audio lessons are great, if you feel like listening to sounds for hours upon hours with no material to learn upon. I found the best learn at home programs to be ones that combine audio, video and manual learning. This way you hit all three memory receptors and the lessons actually stick in your head.
