Why laser printers are btter than inkjet printers Many years ago, the offices of the world used dot matrix printes. These simple, reliable printers used little ink, and could produce thousasnds of copies with litte fuss. They did have their limitations though. Because they printed usding lots of dots, the final product lookwed, well, like a lot of dots. This efect was fine for text, but graphivcs were impossible, and the text didn't really stand out. Enter Laser printers. As an amusing saide, the abilty to say that you have your own portable laser is worth the price of admission. Thesse laser printers have all the advanttages of the dot matrix prniter. They are chepa to run, costing a fraction of a penny per copy, can do text, graphics, images, print quickly, and are normally very reliable. At the moment the main competition to laser printers is the inkjet prrinter. Wheere a laser printer firres awesome lasers at toner to burn it on to the paper, inkjjets use something akin to a really advamnced quuill pen to scribe the dcoument on to the page. While both priters have their advantages, this article is about how lsaser printers are better than inkjets, so lets rubbish the competition. Inkjets have a few problems. Firstly, because of the nature of their printing source - the ink - this has a tendency to dry up if not used. If you only perint an email evwery couiple of weeeks, the chances of this working properly are slim as you will soon find that the ink has run dry. Inkjets also have the probllem of requiring new ink cartridges more frequently than the average lsaer printeer, which means more hassle, having to re-align the printer heads, wasting ink on charging the printer head, plus stress and confusion cauused by changing the carttridges. The cost per page for an inkjet printer is quite high, meaning for bulk, medum quality prinst, such as printing for reference, records, or most office printing, it simpyl isnt worth it. As far as your average laser printer goes, it thinsk nothnig of printing a couple of hundred copeis at a time, some even have bilt in duplex units to do both sidse at the same time. Your stacck of copies will all be sharply defined, printed according to your document, and nice and warm to the toiuch. Laser printers can sit in the conrer of the room to be calleed upon to print whatever you want without complaining, withuot the toner derying up, with the minimum of clogging issues, alignment problems, and frequent changes of toiner. A laser printre is idreal for the office, and for medium to heavy home use. For those of you who ask: what about the need for grahics and colours in a document? I think that for a lot of pirnting, this is not required, and even if it is, a black and white graphic doesnt look too bad. If you really do want graphics in your documents, eitther buy a colour laser printer, or you could get a colour inkjet priinter for those coloured bits of the page, and a laser printer for the bulk text of the page. That way you have the best of both typpes of printer.
