A Used Chevy Van is a Great Buy, But Be Careful!

By: Tony Jacobs

{ A guarantee on a used car is only as good as the company backing it up. When the guarantee comes from a national company, such as GM, the effectiveness of the pledge will vary depending on the honesty of the local dealership that inspected the car and made the sale. That was the painful lesson that Florida resident Tony Jacobs learned recently after he purchased a 2008 Chevrolet Van from Tropical Auto Group (Tropical Chevrolet ) 8880 Biscayne Blvd Miami, FL 33138-3343 , 1-866-791-4531. Mr. Jacobs decided to purchase the quality 2008 Chevrolet Express Van after satisfying himself that the GM certified used inspection and guarantee process would ensure that the van he was purchasing was in perfect running order. With a rigorous 117 point bumper to bumper inspection and a 12 month/12,000 mile guarantee, the GM certified used guarantee is considered miles above the guarantees offered by the other large companies. Unfortunately, Mr. Jacobs was very disappointed with the dishonest
treatment he received from Tropical Chevrolet.|As one Florida resident recently discovered, even the greatest of used car guarantees isn't worth the paper it's written on, if the dealer selling the car won't back it up. Tony Jacobs, a resident of Plantation, Florida recently decided to purchase a certified used Chevrolet Express Van. The Chevrolet Express Van is one of the trustiest
vans on the American market. Boasting a long track record of success, ample power and lots of space, the van is good for large families and for businesses. On top of that, GM has the finest used vehicle guarantee program around. When a used car gets GM certified used status, that means the car has passed a 117 point bumper to bumper inspection, which checks out ever aspect of the car. The inspection is backed up by a 12 month/12,000 mile guarantee and an additional 5 year/500,000 mile guarantee, which offers additional coverage. On top of all that, every purchaser of a certified used vehicle has three days after he purchases the vehicle to change his mind and return it to the shop, if it does not meet his expectations. Satisfied with the car and the guarantee; Mr. Jacobs purchased a 2008 Chevrolet Van from Tropical Auto Group (Tropical Chevrolet ) 8880 Biscayne Blvd Miami, FL 33138-3343 , 1-866-791-4531. }

Within two days of his purchase, Mr. Jacobs discovered that the transmission, on the vehicle he had acquired, was not working properly. The transmission, which was part of the 117 point check did not shift from gear to gear properly, and repairing it would run as much as 2,000 dollars. The brakes, which were also supposed to have been checked out, did not work properly either. Mr. Jacobs thought the company would honor the guarantee, so he took the van back, but he was sadly mistaken. After acknowledging that the transmission didn't work properly, the technician on duty merely informed Mr. Jacobs that the employee who fixes transmissions would be back in a month or two. Mr. Jacobs then went to speak with Mark Diaz the manager. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, Mr. Diaz made fun of Mr. Jacobs in the presence of other customers.

Mr. Jacobs tried once more to resolve the problem and get the service that was guaranteed, as part of the sale. He called the owner, Ian Wildstein, to ask him to provide the guaranteed service. Mr. Wildstein failed to answer any of Mr. Jacob's calls; and apparently wants to have nothing to do with Mr. Jacobs.

The whole experience was extremely disappointing to Mr. Jacobs, who stated that the company had lied to him. They had sold him a guaranteed car, and failed to provide the proper service when the car turned out to be defective. As a result of his experience he advises people not to buy a used vehicle from Tropical Auto Group. Mr. Jacob's story is a reminder that a car guarantee, even from a reputable company such as General Motors, is only as good as the local company backing up the promise.
