London is swiftly awash with bar night clubs as the Licencing Act makes councils to allow dj bars open later from Aldgate to Westminster and provide acts. A case of the UK finally following the rest of Europe. At Club Reporter we direct through the forest which is currently Nightlife London. All the bars below include trading times of at the very least 02:00am Soho and the surrounding area remains the place to be witnessed although for the occasional consumer it can sometimes feels such as tourist hell on fri / sats. All the same Punk and Kabaret continue the "the place to be" music bars and you may well find yourself rubbing shoulders with a icon that's if you are able to obtain access to the Roped off area. On the concoctions front Lab continues to be the cocktail boss even if comparative new kids on the block like Milk and Honey and specialist regional late night bars for example Floridita are getting closer. But so much activity has now transferred to the private members clubs such as Soho House and Vanilla that it is questionable Soho will ever retake cachet it once enjoyed. East London if anything has at this time pinched Soho's mantra as the location to open cool new latebar cocktail bars assisted as expected by Westminster's notoriously strong licencing policy which have to all intents and purposes put the block on additional late licenses in Soho. Leaders of the pack have to be Lounge Lover and the huge (but private) Shoreditch House but the like of Last Days of Decadence and Hoxton late bar and Grill have their own charm. Comically the predominance of fashionable late night cocktail latebar clubs in Shoreditch and Brick Lane has prompted a back lash with many drinkers preferring the attributes of a local pub as a substitute . A deserving mention for Cargo too even if it really more a music venue than bar North Greater london means Camden with as many band pub clubs per square mile as there are style bars in Shoreditch and private members clubs in Soho. From the ultra cool Proud to the rather dilapidated but constantly accepted Monarch Camden is the home of the indie bar club …… and nothing else. West Greater london sorry to say suffers from the deadly RBKC (that's the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea) sickness who in their knowledge have for practical purposes put a stop on new late night club openings. Paradise in Kensal Green and Notting Hill Arts Club for practical purposes have the scene to themselves. What of South London? Well a blend of less strict licensing rules and inexpensive prices has made it quite the vicinity of the moment (after East Greater london that is) with the Loft and Lost Society in Clapham both picking up several bar accolades. More recently Peacock late bar has been making waves with its mishmash of burlesque and cabaret early with retro 80s and 90s Djs later.
